What IS that thing?

Ever see a cool bug and have no idea what it is? Well apparently there are some entomologist and general entomophilias with some spare time on their hands and are willing, free of charge, to identify a bug for you.

Before you start though, you need to do the follwoing things; Stop screaming, get off the chair and take a photo of the bug. If that just isn't going to happen, you'll need to include a description, as well as information on where the creature was spotted, when, if it was on a specific plant, and include your geographic location.

And all of this was started by a couple of art students as an art project, go figure.

This is just further proof that there is and answer for anything you want to know in the big ol'world, you just have to find the right person to ask.

  • Thank you. I'm honored you dedicated such an awesome post to me. Did you know I was most likely destined for entomology before I figure out I had more talent than sense? My most recent identification was Steatoda grossa, which if you look it up you will notice is that spider that you keep thinking is a black widow but isn't.

  • Yay new post that is not llama butt!

I've shown the whatsthatbug.com to a number of people. Normally they are freaked out. I always show them the "bug love" page.
